Why Twin Ports air conditioners fail the way they do

Our cooling season is short and sharp. The failure pattern is different: less wear, more corrosion and more start-up failures.

Capacitors are the number one call. A run capacitor gives the compressor and fan motor the torque to start; as it ages its capacitance drifts out of tolerance and the motor can no longer start under load. You get the classic symptom — outdoor fan not spinning, or a hum and a click and nothing. It is an inexpensive part and a fast fix.

Corrosion is the Twin Ports specialty.
